Version 2 July 2015

BUILD UP Skills QualiShell TRAINERS GUIDELINES – Installer of thermal insulation fenestration systems

This report was elaborated within the BUILD UP Skills QualiShell project, implemented from 1 October 2013 to 31 July 2015 under the Intelligent Energy Europe programme funded by the European Commission through the European Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises (EASME). BUILD UP Skills QualiShell project aims at developing and implementing national qualification schemes for installers of external thermal insulating composite systems and high efficiency windows systems (carpentry and insulating glazing), by developing effective tools to embed the adequate knowledge and skills in the relevant occupations and to foster the evolution in the national qualification system and in the vision of key stakeholders in the construction sector, moving towards the actual implementation of nearly zero energy buildings in Romania. This report represents an executive summary of the deliverable D4.3 of work package WP 4 (Development of training courses for window system fitters) and presents the summarised content of the Trainers Guidelines Report for Installer of thermal insulation fenestration systems. The first version of the deliverable was prepared and published in July 2014 as part of the draft content of the training course and it was updated, adjusted and harmonised after the implementation of the pilot training course (December 2104 – July 2015), including feed-back from trainees, trainers and employers. The full Trainers Guidelines Report (in Romanian) is available on the project website, at http://www.iee-robust.ro/qualishell/downloads/D4-3_QualiShell_Ghid-formator_MSTT_2015.pdf. Presentations for each topic and lesson are available online by accessing the links indicated in the relevant sections of the Guidelines or can be downloaded as a package from the project website, at http://www.iee-robust.ro/qualishell/downloads/PowerPoint_MSTT.zip

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Trainers Guidelines for "Installer of thermal insulation fenestration systems" was written based on the theoretical and practical curriculum defined in the Occupational Standard for Education and Training, according to Annex 1b of the Occupational Standard. The document was structured according to the content of the Training Course Manual for the mentioned occupation, providing the corresponding methodological teaching content to the trainer in order to perform the lessons in the vocational training process. The document presents a full Didactic Project for the training course implementation, structured in six modules (corresponding to vocational skills in the Occupational Standard) with a total number of hours of 720 (of which 240 theoretical course and 480 practical course), as follows: I - General Skills Module 1. Workplace organization 2. Application of the legal provisions on health and safety at work and in the emergency situations 3. Application of environmental protection 4. Ensure quality of executed works 5. Maintenance of working equipment 6. Providing materials for construction Occupational Skills Modules II - Transportation to installing place in order to perform assemblies III - Preparing the locations of fenestration systems installation IV - Installation of fenestration systems V - Application of the independent mechanisms of fenestration system VI - Ensuring functional testing of fenestration system The Didactic Project is structured in lessons plans (for each training module), defining reference objectives / specific skills, content (divided in several themes / topics), learning activities (e.g. theory – lecture, observation, classification exercises, and practice - observation, identification exercises, case study etc.), resources / materials and equipment required in class (e.g. projector, projection screen, flipchart, PowerPoint presentation, manual etc.) and evaluation (e.g. oral or written tests for trainees to demonstrating that he/she the specific learning outcomes). For each Lesson Plan, the performance and learning objectives are detailed and the support course material (Module Review and PowerPoint presentation) is included, as well as guidelines and predefined tests (for informal and formal assessment). The Manual contains 131 pages (the core report) + 48 PowerPoint presentations and presents in an illustrative form (descriptive text with figures and tables, PowerPoint presentations) the essential information needed by a trainer in the training process.
